THANKS
Thank you to all the panelists, speakers, donors, organizers, and volunteers who made MSA9 a force to be reckoned with this past November!

It was a pleasure seeing and hearing so much interesting intellectual activity at the Westin in Long Beach. MSA9 participants stressed the hotel to maximum capacity, spilled out onto the historic Queen Mary and drank many gallons of coffee. Thanks for being there to share it with us!

Check the Modernist Studies Association website in the coming months for information about MSA X, which will take place November 13-16, 2008 in Nashville, TN!

We look forward to seeing you in Long Beach this week!

Please visit our "WELCOME" page for a few important points of information regarding the scheduled events. Also, see our newly updated "LOCAL INFORMATION" page for things to see and places to eat in the area. You're coming to Southern California at a great time for modernist scholars, with a number of wonderful exhibits going on around the southland. We hope you have a chance to enjoy some of what Long Beach and Los Angeles have to offer!

This year’s conference, entitled Geographies of Literary & Visual Cultures, will explore issues of modernist geography broadly configured as the intersection of literary, visual and cultural spaces. Although the organizers welcome seminar and panel proposals on any topic related to Modernist Studies, particular preference will be given to those related to exploring how technologies of travel and communication made the "modern" possible; international modernism and geomodernism; tourism and the "spectacle"; and the burgeoning film age and its movement toward the digital.

HOUSING UPDATE

Our room blocks at the Westin, Hilton, and Queen Mary are now filled. Information on phone numbers, locations, and former room rates will remain on the housing page for your reference.
